The examined PVD coatings were characterised in terms of their microstructure, phase composition, chemical composition, and their mechanical properties, such as hardness, Young's modulus, adhesion and such tribological properties at elevated temperatures. The results showed that, the produced AlN-CrN-TiN coatings were characterised by similar hardness (H ≈ 29 – 34 ± 2 GPa) and the Young’s modulus (E ≈ 309 - 337 ± 22 GPa).
