But to the old-timers, the passing of the building meant the end of a prominent Pittsburgher's dream. On July 28, 1887, the first steam locomotive arrived at Coronado. When the depot was built the plan was flopped north and south so the outside waiting room faced Santa Fe Park and Main Street. By all means, there should have been plenty of pumping capacity with an elevated storage tank, which in this instance, would have saved the Reading Company many thousands of dollars.

Lewty Washington State University Press. It included 125 buildings with a grocery store, barber shop, two lakes, pool room, hotel, school and church. Effective June 1, 1999, Norfolk Southern and CSX took over Conrail and split up the Conrail system. The last run over the 13.4 miles to Larrabees Point was on May 21, 1951 closing service. The train was intended to show off GM's new engine, an EMD E7A, and the new dome cars, but today only the end car, an observation/lounge car called "Moon Glow," rediscovered in an Idaho scrap yard, survives, awaiting restoration in Ogden, Utah at the Utah State Railroad Museum in the Ogden Union Depot.

This was taken over by Indiana Hi-Rail in 1981. These handcars use a chain and sprocket to propel the vehicle which was not of the era. A 32 car passenger train ran from Anchorage to Indian making it the longest passenger train in the Alaska Railroad's history. A fatal accident was surely thought to have occurred as the passenger train passed a northbound coal train. It will be observed that the time of the trains is given at only one intermediate station between the terminals.
